Chevrolet first showed the Bolt EV concept at the 2015 North American Auto Show in Detroit, and the time to release from concept to dealerships has been truly impressive. The Bolt EV is an all-electric, 5-door sub-compact with an impressive EPA-estimated range of 238 miles. Power comes from a 60 kWh lithium ion battery pack with a flat layout that spans the entire length of the Bolt's floor. The high-capacity electric motor produces up to 200 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque. Power is put to the front wheels through Chevrolet's Electronic Precision Shift, a shift-by-wire system that uses electronic signals to control the drive. Regenerative braking assists in keeping the batteries charged during normal driving conditions. The Bolt EV is available in either LT or Premier trims. All Bolts are equipped with 17-inch Michelin self-sealing tires, HID headlights and LED taillights, heated power adjustable mirrors, push-button start, a 7.2 kW high-voltage onboard charger, a 10.2-inch touchscreen display, Chevrolet MyLink Radio with a 6-speaker sound system, satellite radio, OnStar with 4G LTE Wi-Fi connectivity, automatic climate control, low-energy Bluetooth connectivity, power windows and locks and a 60/40 split-folding rear seat. Unique to the Premier trim are integrated turn signals in the outside mirrors, roof-mounted side rails, ambient interior lighting, a rear camera mirror with auto-dimming, heated front seats and a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel. Advanced safety tech on the Bolt EV Premier includes rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking assist, blind-spot alert, and surround vision, which utilizes four cameras to create a birds-eye view of the Bolt and its immediate surroundings. The LT's Comfort and Convenience Package adds the heated seats and steering wheel and auto-dimming rearview mirror. A Driver Confidence Package builds upon those features with rear parking sensors, cross-traffic alert, a lane departure warning, and blind-spot monitor. Packages for the Premier include the Infotainment Package, which adds a Bose 7-speaker system with subwoofer, dual USB ports for rear passengers and a wireless charger. The Driver Confidence II Package provides forward collision alert, low-speed automatic braking, pedestrian braking, lane keep assist with lane departure warning, and IntelliBeam headlamps. Standard safety features include StabiliTrak electronic stability control, 10 airbags, a rear vision camera and the OnStar suite of safety and security systems.
